Exercise of the Week: Strict/Push/Jerk

I'm not going to be a stickler for technique here. While each of these three (3) exercises
  • Shoulder Press (Strict)
  • Push Press
  • Push Jerk
are similar, they each illicit different responses in our fitness. A strict shoulder press will build strength. A push jerk will build power. A person will be able to lift more weight using a push jerk than the other two exercises. A well-rounded person will incorporate all three of these in their program.

Real life makes no rules about which movement you use to lift a household item onto a high shelf.

I will not either.
