Another poll/survey is over. The question was very objective in nature. Black and white. No room for interpretation. Quite simple. A matter of specific numbers. How does your maximum deadlift compare to your bodyweight? I usually post the results from most popular to least, but I'll leave them in the original order to demonstrate how the 193 responses fell into a typical bell curve.
- Less than BW - 3 (1%)
- Same as bodyweight - 3 (1%)
- 1.25x BW - 9 (4%)
- 1.5x BW - 29 (15%)
- 1.75x BW - 36 (18%)
- 2x BW - 52 (26%)
- 2.25x BW - 32 (16%)
- 2.5x BW - 22 (11%)
- More than 3x BW - 4 (2%)
- Don't know - 3 (1%)
I found myself in the 2x-2.25 range....right in the middle of the curve. Take a look at how you measured up. If you've found yourself towards the bottom, maybe you are in need of some extra strength training. Functional fitness is all about balance. Many times I see strength training neglected...in favor of stamina, anaerobic, aerobic, or core development drills. Lastly, if you answered "Don't know," you for surely don't do strength training!!
